Cornbread: Farm To Soul

In the heart of Crown Heights, nestled at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Bedford Avenue, you can find this Black women-owned restaurant serving up hot soul food plates daily. This place is called Cornbread: Farm to Soul. Inside you'll find cafeteria-style seating and big open windows to people gaze outside. Order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for your food to be hand-delivered to your table. This is a casual dining spot but perfect for a lunch date or a meal alone. The menu has everything from fried fish (choice of whiting or catfish) to turkey wings; all served with a thick slice of sweet buttery cornbread.

We ordered the fried chicken which was crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle, and most importantly, seasoned. The collard greens were good. No smoked turkey inside but still favorable. The menu also has seven other classic soul food staples to choose from, including potato salad and mac & cheese. We'd be remiss to not mention that the peach cobbler is worth saving room for.
